Gathering Place represents over 110 years of tradition and experience at Western Home Communities, blended with a forward- looking vision. Located in a beautiful, wooded campus just off Melrose Avenue and Camp Cardinal Road in Iowa City, it offers a unique and vibrant living experience.

Our team embarked on this project to expand Western Home Communities into Iowa City more than two years ago. We have worked diligently to develop an impressive campus plan and put in countless hours of preparation in anticipation of breaking ground on residences in the spring of 2025.

I understand that choosing a new home is one of life’s most important decisions. It’s about more than just finding a place to live – it’s about finding a place to belong. We’ve designed our campus with you in mind, creating an environment where you can thrive, explore new interests, and build wonderful and meaningful relationships.

In addition to expanding our physical campuses, we are developing programs and investing in technology in preparation for what’s ahead as the Baby Boomer influence looms in the coming years.
